Questions commonly asked by parents of Arrowmen and answers to these questions.

Q: Is my child joining a secret society/ cult?

A: No, we are not a secret society or cult. Our program and what we do is open to everyone, though some parts of the induction process are kept as a surprise to keep the mystery and fun of this process alive. We do not tolerate secret groups, hazing, or bullying, and your scout will be strictly protected from this. 

Q: How involved to parents need to be, I'm worried about not letting my child have their own experience?

A: Parents may need to provide transportation for their scouts, but there is no other requirements for parents in the Order of the Arrow. However, we always need adult Arrowmen as volunteers to help support our youth leaders in leadership and service! Many parents do join the OA with their children, but even in this scenario our organization will allow the scout to develop their skills and leadership on their own.
